Graphite
Preliminary Studies
Grid System
I made a makeshift glass table out of things around my house so I could easily trace the outline of my deer onto my good copy paper.

Reflection Questions
Did you gain a new skill with familiar materials?
Yes. I learned how to draw short fur for my deer using short pencil lines and layering.
What is this artwork intended to say?
This piece is intended to display the delicate beauty and symmetry found in nature.
How did you respond to challenges that occurred as you worked?
I encountered many challenges while making this drawing. For example, at one point I was having trouble showing how one part of the image is out of focus and a bit blurry. I asked Brie for some advice and she said to use a paper towel to blend the graphite to give it the effect.
When did you step back and analyze your work during this project?
Towards the end of my drawing process, I felt like something was missing but I wasn't sure what. So, I took a few steps back and looked at it from a bit of a distance and I concluded that I needed more contrast, meaning I needed some darker areas and some lighter.
Did you use technology as a tool?
I used an app to apply a grid to my photo so that I could accurately draw out an outline. This was very helpful because the printer at the school does not print very well so I was referencing my picture digitally very often.
